Hillside Farmacy

Hillside Farmacy is a restaurant and private dining venue located in Austin, Texas, housed in a building with a rich history dating back to the 1920s. Originally the site of Austin's first African American pharmacy, the venue retains many vintage elements such as antique wooden display cases, a tin ceiling, and a hex-tiled floor, which contribute to its eclectic and vintage style. The pharmaceutical theme is thoughtfully integrated throughout the space, including playful details like salt and pepper shakers and locally made food products displayed in the cabinetry.

The interior features small copper-topped and marble bistro tables surrounded by vintage pharmacy cabinetry, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of a friend's home. In addition to the indoor spaces, a large outdoor patio area offers ample seating, bordered by planters filled with herbs and flowers and shaded by new awnings and umbrellas, blending historic charm with natural elements.

Hillside Farmacy serves farm-to-table meals seven days a week, sourcing ingredients from local farms. The menu includes east and west coast oysters, gourmet sandwiches, small plates, pastries, brunch, and creative dinner entrees. The venue also offers a full bar, punch bowls, and house-made fountain sodas, complementing its unique dining experience. The venue has been recognized with a Merit Award from the Heritage Society of Austin for its preservation of a historic property.
