Oryori Matsumura

Oryori Matsumura is a Japanese restaurant located in Osaka's Joto ward near Gamo Yonchome Station, housed in a renovated 90-year-old traditional Japanese house. Chef Tomonori Matsumura, who honed his craft through ten years in Kyoto and three years mastering French culinary techniques in Paris and Lyon, opened the restaurant in 2023. The kitchen merges traditional Japanese cuisine with refined French influences, delivering an omakase menu centered on seasonal ingredients sourced directly from producers to maintain freshness and authenticity. Guests enjoy approximately ten carefully composed courses such as seasonal appetizers, a dashi broth simmered for two days, seasonal charcoal-grilled fish, terrine with French-style dual sauces, Awaji Island beef, and homemade desserts including black bean sweet paste with citrus confiture in monaka wafer. Sake pairings come from select breweries, complemented by original non-alcoholic tea options designed to balance aroma and flavor. Inside, the serene atmosphere reflects the spirit of gratitude toward nature and human connection. The dining room features an eight-seat cypress counter crafted from a 150-year-old slab and a four-seat table overlooking a garden, creating an intimate setting ideal for business receptions, celebrations, or special dinners.
