Charbonnel

Charbonnel is a family-run hotel-restaurant in Brantôme established in 1920, known locally under the Charbonnel name and formerly a Michelin-starred house. Since 2018 the Beltrami family — Sylvie, Michael and Samantha — restore and preserve the Charbonnel spirit while updating the experience to high-quality hotel and dining standards. The house emphasises local sourcing and seasonality, using a minimum of 80% fresh ingredients and a strong commitment to homemade preparations, and maintains a spa partnership to offer combined gastronomy-and-wellness packages. Its identity rests on a century-long pedigree coupled with contemporary technique and Asian-inflected approaches to Périgord terroir. The property occupies a historic riverside house in Brantôme and projects a refined, family-run atmosphere with a lounge and bar, a flowered terrace and 18 modern, individually decorated rooms across two buildings. Cuisine is refined and creative, built on Périgord terroir and seasonal local produce with notable Asian influences; the kitchen keeps a short, seasonally focused carte. Louis Garrigou leads the kitchen and brings experience from working alongside chef Riou, a Michelin-starred chef, and training with Vincent Arnould, Meilleur Ouvrier de France. Specialties include a tasting menu blending Périgord terroir and Asian flavours; Brunch Gourmet, the chef’s signature buffet; a petit-déjeuner buffet of viennoiseries, pancakes and granola; creative cocktails crafted by the barmaid; and terrace dining overlooking the Dronne.
