La Marea

La Marea is a dinner-only restaurant located at the Viceroy Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen, offering stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and captivating sunsets. Guests are invited to enjoy a refined setting where vibrant colours, tempting aromas, and extraordinary flavours combine for an elevated dining experience. Under the direction of Executive Chef Alejandro Salgado, the culinary team creates a contemporary Mexican menu that honours traditional slow-cooking techniques and highlights high-quality local ingredients. The seasonal menu features signature dishes such as the Taco de Trucha a la Talla with smoked trout on a coriander tortilla, the Tamal de Castacán with Charro Bean Sauce, and the Short Rib Birria. Other options include black risotto with squid ink and huitlacoche, snapper with black recado sauce, duck with yellow mole, and smoked cauliflower with sikil pak. La Marea also boasts an extensive wine and Champagne list featuring selections from Mexico, France, Spain, Italy, the United States, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Germany, and Australia. Beyond the restaurant, guests can experience a private romantic dinner in their villa, which includes a three-course menu and a traditional Yucatecan serenade.
