Le Bercail

Le Bercail, established in 1965 on Barthelasse Island in Avignon, started as a simple refreshment stand for fishermen and has evolved into a celebrated multi-space destination. It offers a panoramic location by the Rhône River, providing visitors with stunning views of the Palace of the Popes, the Pont d’Avignon, the Rocher des Doms with its hanging gardens, and the city's historic ramparts. The venue consists of three distinct spaces: a main restaurant with a vast terrace shaded by century-old plane trees, a tapas and cocktail bar, and a mini-golf adventure area with a snack bar. The natural setting of the restaurant features slowly passing houseboats, ducks, and fish nearby, as well as a dedicated play area for children. The tapas bar offers a lively seasonal atmosphere under a large palm tree, adorned with driftwood, pallets, barrels, and multi-coloured lights, creating a festive bodega vibe. Under the direction of Chef Olivier Chaussy, the cuisine combines homemade French and Mediterranean dishes with a separate menu for tapas and cocktails. Le Bercail caters for groups and events with several indoor and outdoor spaces available for private hire, two outdoor bars, and a location just minutes from the centre of Avignon. It is ideal for business meals, seminars, celebrations, and large receptions. During the Festival d'Avignon, it serves as a refreshing green refuge attracting both locals and distinguished guests.
