L'Estacade

L'Estacade is a family-run hotel-restaurant on the fishing port of Le Croisic. The house presents a modern, terroir-driven approach to cooking described as "entre terre et mer" (between land and sea). Chef Charles Beckel, originally from Moselle, trained at hospitality schools in Strasbourg and Saint-Nazaire and worked with Régis Marcon, Jérôme Nutile and Éric Pras before taking over the family establishment in 2014. Since 2014 the restaurant emphasizes local, homemade dishes built around fresh regional products and its coastal location. The property comprises a port hotel with 14 comfortable rooms and a separate quay-side bistrot called Bistrot Somar. The house received recognition from Gault et Millau (2017), Le guide du Routard (2015), Le Fooding (2017) and was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2019, renewed since 2022. Special-occasion and themed set menus are offered and gift vouchers are available. The atmosphere is convivial and warm, set directly on the fishing port a few steps from the wild coast in the small character town of Le Croisic. The property marries a port-side hotel ambience with a welcoming restaurant and a quay-side bistrot. The kitchen focuses on modern, terroir-based cooking using fresh local products with a land-and-sea orientation and homemade preparations. Seasonal and special-event set menus reflect local sourcing. Charles Beckel leads the kitchen. Specialities include local, homemade regional dishes, land-and-sea preparations and seafood-focused plates. The programme features truffle-themed dinner menus and seasonal tasting menus such as a Saint Valentine menu.
