Le Monchu

Le Monchu is a mountain and Savoyard restaurant located in the heart of Chamonix, at the foot of Mont-Blanc and near the Aiguille du Midi. Established in 1972, it has managed to preserve its tradition and authenticity for over 50 years while incorporating modern updates under new management. The venue offers a journey back in time, decorated with collections of period objects that evoke the atmosphere of old mountain huts. The restaurant's identity is based on warm alpine hospitality and a friendly dining atmosphere within a chalet setting designed for sharing generous meals. A large fireplace is a central feature, accompanied by staff who skillfully use traditional raclette machines heated by hot coals, a hallmark of the establishment. The cuisine showcases traditional Savoyard specialties such as raclette, brasérade, and pierrade, as well as grilled meats, fish, and vegetables prepared over a wood fire to enhance aroma, juiciness, and texture. Le Monchu boasts an extensive wine list carefully selected by sommeliers, highlighting local producers, emerging winemakers, lesser-known terroirs, and prestigious houses. In the summer, a covered and heated private terrace provides a relaxed outdoor setting in the heart of Chamonix. The multiple spaces of the restaurant, its two bars, and its large capacity make it well-suited for groups, seminars, and receptions.
