Deli is a family-run restaurant located in Montellano, Spain, with origins dating back to around 1890 when it began as a beverage shop serving local workers near the Plaza de Abastos. It evolved through generations into a full restaurant, guided by the current owners, Eugenia and David Ortiz, who took over in 2008. Deli gained recognition in 2014 with the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for delivering quality dining experiences at moderate prices. The dining space combines rustic charm with warmth and hospitality, featuring a lively bar on the ground floor and an inviting dining room upstairs. The atmosphere reflects the restaurant’s heritage and personable character. Chef María Eugenia Romero Ocaña leads the kitchen with a self-taught approach, having trained under David Ortiz, whose background includes professional education and Michelin-starred European restaurants. The menu celebrates traditional Andalusian cuisine with dishes such as creamy rice with wild partridge, sautéed seasonal mushrooms with garlic and herbs, tempura-fried wild thistle shoots, and Mozarabic alboronías made from pumpkin, vegetables, chickpeas, and cumin. Deli emphasizes local, seasonal ingredients and an authentic home-cooked experience complemented by a curated selection of Jerez sherries and rare vineyard wines.
