Gazela Primeiro

Gazela Primeiro is a historic tall ship docked along the waterfront in Philadelphia's Riverfront neighborhood, offering a one-of-a-kind setting for private events. Built at the shipyard of J. M. Mendes in Setubal, Portugal, with records dating to 1901, she was originally constructed for fishing the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. She is the only sea-worthy barkentine in the United States and has been in the care of the Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild since 1990. The entire vessel functions as a single open-air event space, with towering masts and rigging set against the Delaware River as a natural backdrop. The ship accommodates up to 150 guests for standing receptions and up to 90 for seated dining. A stage is available for live performances. The space is suited for engagement parties, micro-weddings, rehearsal dinners, private dinners, corporate gatherings, art galleries, performances, cocktail hours, farewell brunches, retirement parties, elopements, and other intimate events. All events take place fully outdoors on the open deck. The venue operates on a bring-your-own catering model, with external catering permitted. An alcohol licence is held until 10:00 pm, with an extension available.
