La Maison du Val

In the heart of the Saint-Germain-en-Laye state forest, just 20 minutes from Paris, at the turn of a path, we come face to face with a large, fierce-looking house. A rich past is felt from the moment you arrive: visited by François I, Henri II and Louis XIV, the Château du Val was originally one of the many hunting pavilions in the Saint-Germain-en-Laye forest but soon became the residence of Louis XIV, who had the gardens designed by the famous architect Le Nôtre before moving to Versailles.

During the second half of the 18th century, the Château du Val became a very renowned salon where many receptions, literary or philosophical salons were held. Notable figures such as Voltaire, Rousseau, and Diderot were known to visit! Over the years, the residence expanded and modernised. Several hundred years and many owners later, Les Maisons de Campagne settled in this exceptional setting to write a new chapter and open their second residence, the Maison du Val.

At the Maison du Val, working hours transform into moments of conviviality in perfect harmony with nature. Imagine your brainstorming sessions in the shade of a tree, hosting your workshops on the Esplanade in the gardens; the soothing and restorative atmosphere of the park will inspire and motivate you. It is a vast exploration ground, with its corners, nooks, and hidden markers. The Gallery of Portraits, for example. Right next to the cinema room, in the old stables, this game room styled like a hidden bar takes a quirky approach by pairing portraits found on-site with those of illustrious unknowns. But the most memorable room is undoubtedly the Library, which holds over 10,000 books in its encaustic-painted shelves. Here, time has simply stopped.

At the heart of its 4-hectare wooded park, discover 49 rooms with soft and dreamlike tones. They are spread across 2 buildings: the house & the pavilion. They embody the spirit of a “family home,” with unique decorative elements in each room. Dominated by sand or forest green hues, the rooms create comfortable and warm cocoons.
