Alte Überfahrt

Since 2016 Alte Überfahrt has operated in Werder (Havel), under 30 minutes from Potsdam and about 60 from Berlin. Host Patrick Schwatke, formerly at Käfer (Reichstag), the Westin Grand and Michelin‑starred Kochzimmer, curates wines from Italy, Germany, Austria and France. Gault Millau 16 points and consecutive Michelin recognition attest to the house’s standing. It occupies a listed fin‑de‑siècle promenade building, with a summer terrace shaded by old trees on the lakeshore and a modern dining room with water views. The kitchen follows a contemporary fine‑dining approach; fish and meat appear as carefully prepared companions while the team emphasises regional sourcing and handcraft in its preparations. Chef Thomas Hübner trained with Kolja Kleeberg and in renowned Italian and international starred kitchens; he leads a precise, creative cuisine. Tasting menus form the core, changing almost daily to follow the garden’s micro‑seasons. Produce is supplied exclusively and daily from the nearby Schlossgarten Petzow, a private kitchen garden used for exclusive cultivation and inspiration. Fish are prepared by the Ike‑Jime method — lake fish in summer, Baltic in winter — and the kitchen employs Italian‑influenced techniques.
