Ancestral Cocina Tradicional

Ancestral Cocina Tradicional, founded in 2017 by Chef Miguel Mijangos, is located in the iconic neighborhood of Xochimilco in the city of Oaxaca. The restaurant is dedicated to traditional Oaxacan cuisine, emphasizing native ingredients that reflect the rich culture and folklore of Oaxaca. The menu offers breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, featuring local products in dishes such as memelas with meats or chapulines, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles with red chile, bean or guajillo, dessert gaznate de tejate, and coloradito tacos with chicken. With a team of 35 collaborators, Ancestral Cocina Tradicional pays homage to regional culinary traditions through a collective and team-based approach. Since 2021, it has been recognized as one of the best restaurants in Mexico by the Mexican Gastronomic Guide and the Marco Beteta guide, and it is included in both the 2024 and 2025 Michelin Guides.
