Le 1815 occupies the restaurant of the historic Hôtel de la Poste in Avallon, a property founded in 1707. The dining room seats 60 and reopened with the hotel after an eight‑year closure; the house highlights a past that hosted Napoléon, Édith Piaf and Salvador Dalí. The restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide (Cuisine moderne, Selected) and offers gift boxes that can include a full gastronomic menu experience or wine. Designer Julien Cohen has reinterpreted period charm in an elegantly renovated setting, with carefully selected and renovated furniture and decor throughout. A terrace extends the dining experience. The kitchen presents contemporary French cuisine that reinterprets traditional recipes of the last fifty years using modern techniques and an emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Menus are adapted daily to reflect available local produce. Reetesh Persand leads the kitchen. Specialities include a daily changing two‑ or three‑course prix‑fixe lunch and a generous morning breakfast buffet with viennoiseries and local products. The house provides sommelier‑selected wine pairings and a dedicated 1707 cocktail bar with an active mixology programme.
