Le Pastel

Le Pastel is an intimate Mediterranean restaurant a short walk from Toulon harbour, run by the duo Bruno Chastagnac and Pascale Lorain. The kitchen, led by Bruno — an autodidact — composes plates that change each quarter so ingredients are offered at their peak; he selects produce personally from local producers and the Toulon fish market. Pascale oversees service and front of house, crafting a warm, attentive dining experience and advising on wines. The house maintains a wine list focused on organic, biodynamic and independent winemakers from Provence and the south of France. The restaurant has earned press recognition and awards including a Guide Michelin reference and TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice (2025), and has been featured by Gilles Pudlowski, BFM Var and Nice-Matin. A refined, small-scale dining room uses soft pastel colours, linen-dressed tables, fresh flowers, dimmed lighting and gentle background music to create a warm, intimate atmosphere. The cuisine is Mediterranean and seasonally driven, market-led and product-focused; techniques are precise and creative, occasionally drawing subtle influences from other cuisines (for example Japanese miso) while keeping the ingredient at the centre of each dish.
