Nanas

Nanas is a neighborhood restaurant in Durham’s leafy Rockwood that traces its presence in the neighborhood back to 1992. The restaurant presents a warm, hospitality-driven concept inspired by the collective influence of grandmothers and the warmth of the kitchen. It offers a brand new private dining space for events, and inquiries are handled through a dedicated events email. Nanas is recognized by the Michelin Guide as SELECTED under Contemporary cuisine. The dining room is cozy and neighborhood focused with a warm bar area and an intimate, salon-like layout. A curved bar accommodates casual drinking and dining, and the bar offers handcrafted cocktails and a wine list of more than 250 farmer-driven, producer-driven selections. The kitchen practices contemporary, seasonally driven cooking that melds traditional preparations with modern techniques, with a menu philosophy centered on local sourcing and frequently changing offerings. Chef Matt Kelly reimagines Nanas. Specialties include Twice-Baked Grits Soufflé, Duck Ragout Tagliatelle, Crispy Lamb Shoulder and a new take on Nana's risotto.
