Resto Wald

Resto Wald is a small, intimate restaurant in Rotselaar blending gastronomic enjoyment with a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. It is the creation of Lisa Claes and Walter Bouterse; Walter trained as a chef in Rotterdam and pursued French cuisine in the Alps, while Lisa worked as a Leuven-based host. They travelled and cooked across Australia, Switzerland, New Zealand and Central America and bring those international influences back to the Low Countries. The restaurant is recognised by the Michelin Guide (Selected) and places market-focused menus and personal hospitality at its centre. The space mixes authentic details with modern touches to create a warm, informal, living-room (‘huiskamer’) atmosphere. The kitchen serves French-Belgian dishes with a contemporary, idiosyncratic twist and follows a seasonal, market-driven “cuisine du marché” philosophy. Walter Bouterse leads the kitchen as chef. Specialties comprise contemporary French-Belgian dishes, market-driven seasonal cuisine and an intimate 20-seat dining experience.
