Villa Retiro

Villa Retiro is a 5-star boutique hotel situated in Xerta, Tarragona, within the Terres de l’Ebre region. The hotel occupies a historic building dating back to 1890 and opened as a hotel in March 2006. Its restaurant holds one Michelin star since 2009 and is the only starred venue in the Baix Ebre comarca. It also holds two Soles from the Guía Repsol and has been recognized as the best restaurant in Tarragona by Guia Gourmand. Chef Fran López, a fourth-generation restaurateur, leads the kitchen. He crafts dishes rooted in tradition while incorporating innovation, focusing on local, market-driven products. The restaurant presents three tasting menus, including the Menú Homenaje and Menú Más que un homenaje, which creatively revisit flavors characteristic of the Ebro territories. The hotel's atmosphere reflects its historic origins, offering a refined and tranquil setting with elegant décor that complements its boutique hotel character. Villa Retiro also supports culinary education through international internship programs, enriching its role as both a gastronomic destination and a place of learning.
