Frequently asked questions
When should we plan a ski retreat, and what about snow conditions?
Ski seasons vary by resort and altitude, and snow cannot be guaranteed, so avoid treating any date as certain. Higher resorts generally hold snow longer. Ask the venue about typical conditions for your dates and what is available if snow is thin, such as indoor sessions, winter walks or spa time. Booking early gives more choice.
What equipment and activities should we plan for?
Decide whether people bring their own gear or rent on site, and ask the venue about rental, lockers and ski passes. Not everyone skis, so offer alternatives such as snowshoeing, a winter walk or a lesson for beginners. Make sure each person can choose their own level, and check what insurance and guiding the provider arranges.
How do we mix meetings and skiing?
Plan around daylight. A common approach is a short working session in the morning, skiing in the middle of the day and a lighter session or dinner in the evening. Leave room for tired legs and weather changes. Choose a venue with a proper meeting room, ideally close to the slopes, so travel time does not eat into the day.
How should we organize travel to a ski destination?
Mountain transfers can be long, so check the nearest airport or station and the road access in winter. Group transport keeps everyone together and avoids driving in snow for people who are not used to it. Allow extra time for weather delays and arrive the day before if the schedule is tight.
