1463 occupies Karlsruhe’s oldest building, dating 1463: a lovingly converted former barn and neighbouring house that combine restaurant and seminar venue. The restaurant offers fine regional, seasonal cuisine—tasting menus, à la carte dishes and themed evenings such as Winzermenüs—and produces almost everything in‑house. Since January 2020 Henning and Verena Weick host. Family guests are supported with a children’s menu; groups receive special menus and catering on request. Carefully restored, the 15th‑century property reveals historic stone walls, a tasteful interior, a lounge and apartments, and a summer garden; seating extends from indoor dining to the garden, which stays open longer in summer, offering an intimate, historic yet contemporary vibe. The kitchen prioritises market‑fresh ingredients and hand‑crafted preparations; menus rotate seasonally and range from multi‑course set menus to themed evenings and selected à la carte, European‑inspired classics. Henning Weick is owner and chef: a trained chef, kitchen master and state‑certified restaurateur who previously worked in kitchen leadership at several notable houses. Specialities include regional, seasonal tasting menus; European‑inspired à la carte classics; Winzermenüs and themed evenings; a traditional five‑course fish and seafood menu on Good Friday; house‑made preparations and a wine focus on Baden, the Pfalz and local producers.
