Cap de Castel

Cap de Castel is a small, charming hotel-restaurant in the heart of the Toulouse–Albi–Carcassonne triangle. It perches above the medieval village of Puylaurens and is protected by ancient Cathar-era fortifications. The property occupies the 18th-century former distillery Maison Cocagne and offers ten rooms. Owners Kevin, Pascal and David present an intimate setting, and the house pairs warm, historically rooted décor with contemporary culinary sensibilities and an emphasis on local flavours and seasonal produce. Interiors blend regional materials—thick stone walls, lime plaster, original parquet, tomettes, fireplaces and high ceilings with exposed beams—into cosy, characterful rooms. Guests may take seats by the restaurant fireplace. The restaurant operates under the tagline "Entre Ciel et Terre" and serves modern cuisine selected by the Michelin Guide. The kitchen emphasises products of the Occitan terroir and addresses discerning gourmets with dishes presented à la carte and in composed dinner offerings. Specialties include the house gift-dinner Dîner Entre Ciel et Terre—amuse-bouches, starter, main, dessert and mignardises. Terrace dining opens onto panoramic views over the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees.
