Le Chardonnay

Le Chardonnay is a bistrot and restaurant in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand, facing Place Philippe Marcombes and a short walk from the town hall. The house has been awarded the Bib Gourmand (noted for 2026) and publicly thanks its producers, suppliers and partners, signalling close collaboration with its supply network. Its cellar presents a rigorous wine selection of grands crus and more intimate cuvées to accompany meals. Practical offerings include a midday set menu, an evening menu and gift vouchers sold online. An elegant blue façade pays homage to Parisian charm, while the interior is warm and refined, dominated by wood in the parquet, varnished shelves and a wooden counter, creating a convivial yet sophisticated vibe. The kitchen delivers contemporary reinterpretations of classic French cuisine, remaining rooted in tradition while employing modern techniques and audacious touches. The kitchen is led by chef Maxence Larivière. Specialities include Feuilleté Saint-Jacques & escargot with curried leek fondue; foie gras mi-cuit truffled with gingerbread and red onion marmalade; gravlax of trout with coconut and satay, with cauliflower textures; snack-seared monkfish tail with celery, spinach and vigneronne sauce; supreme of guinea fowl with crispy polenta, black garlic and morel cream; and an apple tartlet with almond–chestnut cream and hazelnut ice cream.
