Le Restaurant des Isles

Le Restaurant des Isles is the hotel restaurant of L'Hôtel des Isles, housed in a former 1897 seaside villa directly on the beach at Barneville-Carteret. The kitchen works in short circuits with producers of the Manche and sources from the daily landings at the port of Barneville to guarantee freshness and traceability. The house was awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide (noted on 9 February), recognising its quality and excellent value. Its location is literally feet in the water, with panoramic views over the Channel and a sea-facing bar; an intimate number of covers ensures precision and attention to each plate. The establishment supports local initiatives and activities in the Cotentin and positions itself as a warmly hospitable destination for leisure and group events. The dining room is cosy and warm, furnished with art‑deco–inspired pieces and velvet armchairs beneath softly dimmed lighting, and a terrace les pieds dans l'eau accommodates sunset drinks. The cuisine is terroir-focused and 100% homemade, rooted in local, seasonal produce from the Cotentin and Normandy; an intentionally short menu evolves daily according to producers’ arrivals and the boat landings at the local port and favours generous, instinctive preparations. Chef Damien Goguet trained alongside starred chef Laurent Cesne and in 2016 led a local restaurant to a Michelin distinction sustained for five years; he continues to present generous, authentic plates that marry land and sea. Specialities include carpaccio of scallops with yuzu and wasabi; langoustine with veal sweetbreads in a vol‑au‑vent style; roasted duck breast with Normandy pepper and blackberry jus; and the Love Pistachio dessert with a cherry heart.
