The partner's word

The Cocochine is tucked into the hidden mews of Bruton Place off Berkeley Square in London; it presents art and craftsmanship as a canvas for chef Larry Jayasekara’s cuisine and old‑school hospitality. Across 20 years of fine‑dining and travel he has sourced many of the restaurant’s exceptional suppliers and ingredients, and reservations are accepted up to three months ahead. The house spans four storeys: the main dining room sits on the ground floor, a seven‑seat Chef’s Counter occupies the first, and a wholly self‑contained Private Dining Room fills the top floor. The private room includes a lounge area, a towering fireplace, bespoke furniture and curated art, producing an intimate, crafted atmosphere. Cuisine is refined modern French with influences from the chef’s global training and Sri Lankan roots; menus comprise multi‑course signature tastings, a vegetarian signature menu and a lunch set menu. Much seasonal produce comes from a regenerative farm estate in Northamptonshire, 60 miles from the restaurant, and seafood is brought from Tanera Island off the Scottish coast. Larry Jayasekara was born in Sri Lanka, trained at culinary school in Devon and under acclaimed British and French chefs in 1, 2 and 3* establishments. He opened The Cocochine in March 2024 and holds the Craft Guild of Chefs National Chef of the Year 2016 and the Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards Special Award 2021 for charity work during the pandemic. Specialties include Ceylon King Crab Salad; Hand‑dived Scallop with mushrooms and pandan; Fillet of Wild Turbot with coconut and spiced prawn sauce; Banana Leaf BBQ Native Lobster; farm dry‑aged sirloin of beef with red wine jus; and 'Watalappam' Sri Lankan crème caramel.
