Le Grand Arbre is a bistronomic Mediterranean restaurant located at the entrance of Montpellier, founded by Emmanuelle and Ruddy Gounel. The establishment is nestled beneath a century-old plane tree, offering a serene green setting that feels timeless while remaining close to the city. Located in a former orangery, guests can choose to dine on a tree-lined terrace or indoors in spaces that combine old stone walls with wrought iron details, creating a warm and elegant atmosphere. Chef Ruddy Gounel crafts a cuisine deeply rooted in Mediterranean gastronomy, focusing exclusively on local and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant offers two main menu formats: a market menu for weekday lunches, inspired by the fresh produce of the market, and a multi-course Menu Confiance served at lunch and dinner on selected days. This tasting menu takes diners on a culinary journey through appetizers, vegetable dishes, seafood, meat, desserts, and mignardises, highlighting the chef's refined technique and the richness of seasonal ingredients. Sommelier Emmanuelle Gounel curates a wine list that emphasizes local selections as well as noteworthy bottles from other regions. Seasonal cocktails and mocktails, refreshed each month by Margaux Gounel, complement the meal, from aperitif to dessert. Le Grand Arbre also serves as an event venue, with two large reception halls for private and professional occasions, offering entertainment options and the possibility of complete venue privatization.
