Playa Vik

Playa Vik is a boutique hotel and resort located on the coastline of José Ignacio in Uruguay's Maldonado Department. Established in 2010, this venue offers a blend of modern and cultural coastal style with romantic undertones. The property is perched on a coveted point along the Uruguayan coastline, providing expansive views of the ocean, coastline, and surrounding meadows.

The design of Playa Vik was developed in collaboration with internationally acclaimed Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott. The venue features an ultra-contemporary and organic architectural style, complemented by a significant collection of contemporary Uruguayan and international art, including works by James Turrell, Zaha Hadid, and Anselm Kiefer. A notable feature is the 75-foot cantilevered pool made of Uruguayan Black Absolut Nero granite, which extends beyond the terrace and hovers 32 feet over the beach garden below.

The property includes six small houses, or casas, arranged in an L-shaped pavilion around the main structure, serving as individual accommodations for guests. Playa Vik can host up to 40 guests overnight and offers both indoor and outdoor venue spaces suitable for a variety of events, including corporate events, weddings, social gatherings, and retreats focused on corporate, spa, and wellness activities. The outdoor areas can be tented to accommodate celebrations ranging from intimate groups to hundreds of attendees.
