What are Office Olympics?
Office Olympics are a series of playful competitions adapted for indoor spaces. Teams compete in multiple short challenges inspired by sports and games—such as paper airplane distance, desk basketball with crumpled paper, speed puzzles, or quick build challenges. Each event awards points, and the team with the highest score wins. The goal is to break routine, create laughter, and build team spirit through light physical movement and friendly competition.
How do you play Office Olympics?
Divide participants into teams of 4 to 6. Set up several challenge stations around the room. Each challenge lasts 5–10 minutes. Teams rotate through stations, earn points per event, and track scores on a shared scoreboard. Finish with a final tally, announce winners, and optionally give small prizes or fun awards (best teamwork, best comeback, most creative attempt).
Why it’s great for a team
This format creates energy fast and encourages broad participation. It strengthens team spirit (cheering and shared goals), friendly competition (motivation and engagement), movement (a reset during long workshops), and collaboration (supporting teammates and coordinating attempts). The variety of events ensures different people shine in different moments.
How to organize it effectively
Choose events that are simple, quick to explain, and safe indoors. Keep rules consistent and time-boxed, and prepare scorecards in advance. Encourage teams to create names and quick cheers to increase engagement. End by celebrating winners and highlighting fun moments, not just performance. When organized well, Office Olympics become a high-energy team building activity that strengthens camaraderie, engagement, and workplace positivity.
