Contra Studios

Contra Studios occupies the entire 11th floor of a building in Chelsea's historic Flower District in the NoMad area of New York City. The facility spans 5,000 square feet of bright, open loft space featuring 11.5-foot ceilings, exposed brick, wood floors, and large windows. The venue has hosted New York Fashion Week pre-production, with past clients including Adidas, Zadig & Voltaire, Alexander Wang, and John Elliot. The Chelsea Loft Event Space is the main room, accommodating up to 200 guests for standing events or up to 100 in a cabaret layout. It is suited for social events, holiday parties, art shows, kids' parties, conferences, showrooms, and pop-ups. The space includes a bar, event seating, 65-inch televisions, projectors, outdoor fire escape access, and rooftop access. A hair and makeup room and storage space are also available. Two 1,000 sq ft photo studios within the loft can be configured as separate use or entertainment areas, including as a dedicated kids' play area for children's parties. The NYC Photo & Soundstage Studio is a separate, private photo and film studio within the same venue, with capacity for up to 125 standing guests. It features two studios divided by a 2,000 sq ft common area, which can be booked individually or together for exclusive use of the floor. Studio B is a two-corner, prelit cyclorama soundstage configurable as white, chroma-green, or custom painted. Studio A is a one-corner cyclorama studio with a daylight option and is frequently used for fashion photography, video content, still life, and product shots. When both studios are in use, Studio A can serve as talent holding, production space, or a wardrobe area. The facility offers an on-site chef's kitchen and the option to hire on-site crew including directors of photography, gaffers, photographers, and digital technicians.
