Butcher and the Rye

Butcher and the Rye is a two-story rustic restaurant and bar located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that embraces Americana through its distinctive design and culinary offerings. Established in 2013, the venue is known for its detailed interior elements such as oil lanterns replacing candles, a white antler chandelier, tattoo-inspired murals, vintage knives and cleavers displayed at the entrance, and antique doorknobs repurposed as purse hooks. A 1920's 48-star flag adds historical character to one of the private dining rooms.

The venue features an extensive whiskey collection with over 600 varietals showcased on the main floor's acclaimed Whiskey Wall. The second floor houses the Rye Bar, a craft cocktail bar operating on a first-come, first-served basis, alongside a library for lounging and a private dining room available for reservations. The cocktail program has been recognized as a James Beard Semifinalist for Outstanding Bar Program for two consecutive years, highlighting its ambitious and creative approach.

The menu offers contemporary interpretations of rustic American dishes, complemented by three custom and locally sourced beers on tap, more than 30 wines, and a variety of cocktails including 12 on draft and numerous custom creations. The venue’s atmosphere is enhanced by its street views, contributing to its urban setting and lively environment.
