EARLY

EARLY is a contemporary restaurant and private dining venue located in the vibrant Cedofeita neighborhood of Porto, Portugal. Established in 2018 by siblings Patrícia Sousa and Emanuel de Sousa, the space is a thoughtful rehabilitation of the old bookstore CONTRASTE, blending retro mahogany interiors with a curated mix of vintage and modern design pieces. This eclectic environment reflects a sophisticated yet casual Mediterranean style, creating a distinctive atmosphere for guests throughout the day.

The venue features an airy main dining room with mahogany walls complemented by custom-made white and black marble tables and iconic chairs designed by Friso Kramer, Wim Rietveld, Rodney Kingsman, and John Green. Vintage lamps from the twentieth century add to the unique ambiance, while the revamped bookstore vitrines offer a cozy spot to enjoy coffee while observing street life. A notable feature is the old vault, once used for storing government bonds, now transformed into a bronze-mirrored private room with a 360º perspective, ideal for intimate gatherings of up to six people.

EARLY emphasizes quality and seasonality, sourcing organic and local ingredients to craft its menu. The venue is also known for its specialty coffee, using a ROCKET R-9 espresso machine and beans from local roasters including Vernazza Coffee Roasters. The space supports a variety of celebrations such as weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings, with a capacity of up to 60 standing guests and 40 seated. Its commitment to eco-friendly practices and a non-smoking policy further define its character.
