Njord

Njord takes its name from a Norse sea god and centres its concept on fresh seafood from the North Sea served with a pronounced Scandinavian touch. It emphasises immediacy and freshness—"what yesterday swam in the North Sea is on your plate today"—and favours restrained, natural preparations rather than heavy sauces or showy presentations. The restaurant forms a modern venue within the Family Tradition group. Large seven‑metre‑high windows frame sweeping views of the sea, Zeebrugge harbour and the surrounding countryside. The dining room contains two tall Scottish silver birches, long oak beams and a fabric‑stretched ceiling for improved acoustics, and the interior was developed in collaboration with Lieven Musschoot within a building by Olivier Salens. Cooking focuses on North Sea seafood with a Scandinavian approach characterised by pure, natural preparations and restrained sauces. The kitchen also offers grilled meats, including rib and locally reared West‑Flemish Red from the group’s own breeding. Specialities include North Sea seafood, wood‑grilled tail fish, wood‑grilled lobster, sole and skate wing, oysters and other fruits de mer, and grilled rib and West‑Flemish Red beef. The restaurant occupies the seventh and eighth floors of the ABC Cruise building forty metres above ground.
