What is a Debate Battle?
A Debate Battle is a structured team building activity where teams argue opposing viewpoints on a specific topic. Participants must present arguments, respond to counterarguments, and persuade an audience. Topics can be serious or playful (for example: remote work vs office work, morning meetings vs afternoon meetings, coffee vs tea for productivity, or AI in the workplace). The format encourages fast thinking, clarity, and respectful disagreement.
How do you play a Debate Battle?
Divide participants into teams of 3 to 5 people and assign each team a position (pro vs con). Give a short prep period, then run the debate in phases: opening statements, rebuttals, and closing statements. Keep strict time limits per phase to maintain pace. After each debate, the audience or judges vote for the most convincing team based on clarity, logic, and teamwork.
