Casa Escuela

Casa Escuela is located in a century-old school building that pays tribute to the rich architectural heritage of the Yucatán region. Situated in the center of Mérida, this place showcases a blend of colonial, contemporary, minimalist, modern, and sophisticated styles. The design cleverly juxtaposes the remnants of the original school from 1919 with contemporary interventions, such as a stairway inspired by the moving equinox and elements of a garden from Ancient Maya.

The venue includes a courtyard, living room, kitchen, dining room, cinema, swimming pool, spa, and office, all designed as gathering spaces. Traditional Yucatecan latticework adorns the walls, while adocreto bricks bring natural elements indoors, creating a unique atmosphere with light filtering into every corner. Original materials, such as pasta tiles and old wooden doors, have been preserved through a tasteful renovation carried out by architect Ezequiel Farca and designer Monica Calderón.

Casa Escuela operates as a multidisciplinary residence that welcomes artists and guests from around the world. Its location in the heart of Mérida places it just five blocks from the Zócalo and the Cathedral, and a ten-minute walk from the best restaurants and shops in the city. The spaces of the venue reflect the stories and traditions of its ancient inhabitants, offering a distinctive atmosphere for events and retreats.
