L'Arlatan

L'Arlatan is a historic grand townhouse in the heart of Arles transformed into a contemporary hotel and dining address through the vision of artist-designer Jorge Pardo. Pardo, born in Havana in 1963 and living between Mérida and Los Angeles, received carte blanche to create an integrated artistic environment that preserves the historic fabric while introducing a new creative spirit. The property is presented as a Gesamtkunstwerk: more than 6,000 m² of handmade mosaic, composed of almost two million fragments, animates the interiors with an explosion of colour, light and contemporary design. The central part of the buildings is listed as a Monument Historique and the hotel sits adjacent to Roman remains and UNESCO-listed monuments such as the amphitheatre and the Place du Forum, creating a singular dialogue between history and contemporary creation. The hotel emphasises the southern art of living, offering vibrant, warm and luminous spaces that blend sculpture, architecture and lighting in every room and doorway. The physical space presents unusual volumes and a majestic central staircase set around a courtyard, with art-focused, contemporary décor, intimate lounges and vibrant communal areas. Per Michelin Guide information, the property is Michelin-selected and the hotel’s restaurant is recognised for Mediterranean cuisine.
