L'Océanic

L'Océanic in Chinon reinvents classic French cuisine. Products are chosen with care: cheeses aged by local producers and Hervé Mons (MOF) and oysters from Maison Gillardeau. The restaurant offers set menus (including lunchtime formulas and themed tasting menus) and an à la carte highlighting scallops, cod, monkfish and lobster, and offers take-away dishes and event catering on request. The Michelin Guide recognises L'Océanic as Selected and focused on poissons et fruits de mer. The dining room is renovated, warm and welcoming, inviting guests to enjoy their meal in a friendly, restored setting. The cuisine is classical French reinvented with creativity, with emphasis on fish and seafood and on seasonal produce. The kitchen pursues refined, respectful preparations without pretension and reinterprets traditional technique with creativity. Patrick Descoubes leads the kitchen and writes that his work is driven by friendship, passion and the desire to surprise. His menu evolves with the seasons and his inspirations. Specialties include millefeuille terre et mer, the signature big macaron, Coquilles Saint-Jacques as tartare or roasted, half-roasted lobster with iodised butter, and Caviar d’Aquitaine Osciètre service.
