Zur Glocke

Zur Glocke is a family-run restaurant and hotel in Höchstädt an der Donau; since 2004 owners Gabi and Daniel Stoiber have reoriented it into an ambitious enjoyer’s restaurant, and the house holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, Gault&Millau (14 points), 6 Gusto pans, Varta distinctions. It occupies a converted traditional building with modern design, a later hotel extension and private event spaces. Dining rooms are modern, deliberately restrained, with exposed concrete, wood, glass and felt creating a warm, unobtrusively exclusive ambience. Central fireplace, indirect green bar lighting, sheepskins add cosy touches. Seating ranges from intimate tables inside to a candlelit Hofgarten beneath a large chestnut tree for summer evenings. The kitchen follows a contemporary, market-driven approach prioritising regional, seasonal products and handcraft. Dishes pair traditional technique with creative flavours, drawing on Mediterranean and occasional exotic influences. Menus change with seasons and offer multi-course gourmet options. Owner-head chef Daniel Stoiber trained at Bogenhausener Hof and in the starred kitchen of Hotel Königshof, Munich, leading the kitchen with craft, passion and precise technique.
