Kaufmann's Restaurant am Schlosspark

Kaufmann's Restaurant am Schlosspark is a family-run restaurant in Gersfeld (Rhön). It emphasises hospitality, tradition and a culture of enjoyment and is supported day-to-day by the owner's partner and parents. The house holds a Bib Gourmand and offers private and corporate event options with gourmet menus. The dining rooms occupy the renovated spaces of the town's historic Schlossbrauerei, where 'old walls' meet carefully restored modern interiors. The venue comprises multiple distinct rooms, a summer beer garden and high-quality air filtration systems; conversion and modernisation began in summer 2019 to adapt the building for contemporary dining. The kitchen follows a seasonal, international approach presented as elevated country-house (Landhaus) cuisine, offering a small, refined menu that changes with product availability. Suppliers are chosen from the surrounding area and local sourcing is central to the menu philosophy. Michael Kaufmann is owner and head chef. The restaurant offers degustation menus in five, six or seven courses, including a vegetarian sequence, with optional matching wine pairings from an evolving, extensive wine list. On summer weekends the owner's mother provides homemade cakes.
