The Brown Bear is an award-winning restaurant and bar in Twomilehouse, Co. Kildare, built on the owners' family farm and run by Jean Grace and Eugene Brennan since 2008. It projects a welcoming, community-focused ethos. Bespoke set menus and event catering are offered for up to 70 guests, indoors or al fresco by prior arrangement. Its trophies include Best Restaurant and Best Chef in Kildare in multiple years; it is recommended by the Michelin Guide (2012–2025) and other respected guides. The building houses a lively locals’ bar and a smart bistro; the high dining room has balconies overhead. Dark wood, twinkling glassware, pearly lights and velvety banquettes combine to create an enticing, intimate setting served with a confident style. The kitchen delivers modern cuisine that balances classical dishes with subtle international flavours, emphasising local, seasonal ingredients and daily preparation. Offerings include à la carte dishes, a separate pizza menu and an extensive wine list. Specialties include 32-day Dry Aged Rib Eye (8oz); Roast Cod with Mussels, Garlic & Herb Crust; Crab with Cucumber, Sweetcorn & Tomato Salsa; Chicken Tikka Masala with Wild Rice and Naan; and Margherita Pizza (San Marzano tomatoes, Fior di Latte).
