Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion, Expo City Dubai

Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion is a landmark special venue located within the Sustainability District of Expo City Dubai, on Al Wasl Avenue. Originally conceived and built for Expo 2020 Dubai and designed by the internationally acclaimed Grimshaw Architects, Terra stands as a permanent legacy structure that has evolved into a multi-functional event and exhibition destination. Its aesthetic is boldly futuristic yet elegant, blending contemporary architecture with tropical and natural design cues. The pavilion is defined by its iconic 130-metre wide solar canopy supported by 4,912 solar panels and 18 Energy Trees, generating 4GWh of clean energy per year. Innovative greywater recycling and irrigation systems further reduce landscape water use by 75%, making sustainability central to every experience hosted here.

Terra does not operate its own food and beverage services, but external catering is permitted, giving event organisers full flexibility to bring in their preferred catering partners.

The venue offers a diverse portfolio of ten distinct spaces suited to a wide range of event formats and capacities. Terra Views, an expansive outdoor space, accommodates up to 500 guests for cocktail receptions or 450 in theatre configuration. The Terrace provides an elegant open-air setting for up to 450 guests theatre-style or 375 for cocktails. The Auditorium seats up to 156 guests in both boardroom and theatre arrangements, making it ideal for formal presentations and screenings. The Innovation Gallery is a versatile special venue catering to up to 150 guests theatre-style or 120 for cocktails. The Rooftop offers a more intimate setting with capacity for up to 100 guests. The Wonder Lab and Learning Lab provide interactive, educational environments for groups of up to 80 guests in theatre style. Taqa Island is a boutique cocktail space for up to 30 guests, while the Dugong and Oryx Meeting Rooms each accommodate up to 20 guests in boardroom or cocktail format.

Terra is equipped with a comprehensive production and technical infrastructure. Audiovisual capabilities include high-speed internet access, high-definition projectors, LED displays and video walls, wireless, handheld and lapel microphones, sound systems, and video conferencing equipment, all supported by an on-site available technician. Audio and video recording equipment is also available. The lighting setup encompasses stage lighting including spotlights, floodlights and gobo projectors, ambient uplighting with colour-changing LEDs, dimmable lighting controls, and special effects and visual enhancements, with a dedicated technician on hand. Staging provisions include modular and portable stage platforms, podiums, lecterns, and backdrops. Furniture options range from folding, banquet and theatre-style chairs to round, rectangular and cocktail tables, lounge furniture, bar stools, high-top tables, and outdoor furniture. Rigging and hanging points, temporary art gallery setups, and meeting and banquet facilities are also available.

Terra supports a broad spectrum of events including corporate meetings, conferences, product launches, government events, festivals, fashion events, outdoor weddings, concerts, trade shows, film premieres, and educational experiences. Facilities on-site include air conditioning, wheelchair accessibility, public and on-site parking, 24-hour security, CCTV, a garden, taxi access, internet access, and a snack bar.
